Cincinnati Youth Collaborative to Host Free Screening of James Redford’s Film, “Resilience”
Resilience chronicles the promising beginnings of a national movement to prevent childhood trauma, treat toxic stress, and greatly improve the health of future generations.

RESILIENCE is a powerful documentary film by James Redford, the son of actor and Oscar-winning director Robert Redford, to be shown at the 20th Century Theater on April 6, and hosted by Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC) in partnership with Empower MediaMarketing and Luxottica Retail North America.

“The child may not remember, but the body remembers.”

Redford argues that toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time and early death.

The film chronicles a movement that is determined to fight back, showing how some in pediatrics, education, and social welfare are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to try to protect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress – and the dark legacy of a childhood that no child would choose.

The original research was controversial, but the findings revealed the most important public health findings of a generation. Resilience is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent toxic stress.

CYC President and CEO, Jane Keller, believes that one caring adult can make a monumental difference in outcomes for our youth. She says, “By connecting students, particularly those affected by ACEs and toxic stress, with a positive adult advocate, CYC shows students the possibilities, and guides them down pathways to success. A nurturing mentor has the capacity to change lives. Together we can strive for all children to achieve their full potential.”

The screening is open to all and is intended for a mature audience. There will be a cash bar and networking following.

Pre-registration is required.

Empower New Office Building Hits Major Milestone
Crew Members Celebrate as Final Piece of Steel is Put in Place.

CINCINNATI (March 3, 2017) – The final piece of steel was set at the future home of Empower MediaMarketing earlier this week – a key milestone in the construction process, which began last July.

“As we’ve watched the construction of our OTR office these past few months, there’s an overwhelming excitement for our new company headquarters,” said Jim Price, CEO of Empower MediaMarketing. “2016 was one for the record books for Empower – we were named agency of the year and we had our best year ever in terms of revenue. We’re moving that kind of energy and enthusiasm to OTR, which is a perfect fit for the neighborhood.”

With the last piece of steel now in place, the structure of Empower’s new four-story, 65,000 square-foot office building has been formed. Crews will now begin work on the interior of the building, focusing on tasks like pouring concrete for all floors and framing the walls, as the project moves closer to its fall 2017 completion.

To mark the occasion, the general contractor on the project, Oswald Company, hosted a “topping out” party for crew members Thursday afternoon. The celebration was held at The Eagle Food and Beer Hall, located just around the corner from the construction site, which is on E. 14th Street near Vine Street.

“The folks at The Eagle have been very cooperative with the inconvenience we have caused them with the shutdown of Boots Alley,” Oswald Construction Manager Mike Olding said, in reference to the location of the large crane that had been on-site to place the steel. “They have not complained a single time and have always greeted me with a smile. We thought this was a nice way to say, ‘Thank you.’”

The project, which is being overseen by Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC), combines the integration of an existing historic building with new construction. With a roughly year-long timeline, construction is currently moving forward according to schedule.

“This is an exciting project for OTR and our community,” Bob Wassler, President and Project Director of Oswald Construction said. “Through the collaboration of Empower representatives, 3CDC, Bellweather,

the design teams and all of our subcontractors, the building is coming out of the ground and we look forward to an on-schedule delivery in the fall.”

Although all the steel has been set, one more key item still needs to be implemented into the structure – a piece of metal signed by every Cincinnati-based Empower employee. The piece, which was signed during Empower’s 32nd anniversary lunch earlier this week, will be added at a later date in an undetermined location. But it will serve as part of the fabric of the building, just as Empower and its 160 employees hope to contribute to the fabric of Over-the-Rhine when the company officially moves its headquarters to the neighborhood later this year.

“Our company has seen three decades of success and we’re looking forward to many more in our new OTR home,” said Price.

Empower Recognized as 2016 Agency of the Year by Mediapost
CINCINNATI (December 19, 2016) – Empower MediaMarketing has been named 2016 Agency of the Year by MediaPost. Read more below on why Empower MediaMarketing was chosen as Agency of the Year above all the rest.

Over the years, MediaPost has flattened out the way we categorize candidates and winners of our Agency of the Year awards competitions. We don’t distinguish between big agencies and small, independent or holding company-owned ones. What we do distinguish on is what the organization achieved in the past 12 months in terms of driving vision, innovation and leadership. Empower, like a number of other agencies big and small, is a perennial that always operates a best-in-class approach. It may have won for its approach to transparency in 2016, but it is also always envisioning, developing and adapting for its future. Joe Mandese, Editor in Chief, MediaPost.

Measuring Return On Objective: An Alternative Success Metric
While return on investment (ROI) is the gold standard for proving the success of marketing activities, the calculation for some media campaigns is blurred by cross channel integration, competitive activity and uncontrollable economic and environmental factors.

But there is an alternative. Return on objective (ROO) enables teams to prove campaign impact when it’s not possible or feasible to tie them directly to sales. Common marketing objectives include increasing factors like awareness, brand favorability and purchase intent. By starting with these objectives in mind, campaigns are designed and researched to measure these factors.

Social Media Conversation Begets Loyalty

The impact of social media is also fueling new objectives, including increasing the volume of positive online discussion. By increasing the volume of discussion, engagement increases, which can lead to sales and higher levels of customer loyalty.

Empower included ROO as part of a blogger outreach campaign. The company saw a dramatic increase in the daily volume of online conversation surrounding our client’s brand that corresponded with the campaign launch.

Emphasizing ROO measurement is integral in achieving long-term marketing success. Implementing programs with these goals helps take customers through the purchase decision — the ultimate goal. Empower clients have embraced ROO options, and we’ll continue to consider them as success metrics if they continue impacting our clients’ business.
